چکیده
We show that the dynamical instability of quantum vortices with more than a single unit circulation results from superradiant bound state inside vortex core. then reveal striking behavior system in nonlinear regime. Counter to expectation should produce well-separated vortices, evolves into corotating singularities orbiting within few healing lengths each other, undergoing modulations separation. During these modulations, kinetic energy is traded back and forth between sound waves vortical degrees freedom.

We discuss an experimental technique developed to visualize quantized vortices in helium II. We illuminate micron-sized solid particles of hydrogen suspended in the fluid, and mark quantized vortex cores within the volume observed by a camera. While, under some circumstances, the particles modify vortex dynamics by the action of viscous drag and by pinning vortex intersections, we do capture ba...
متن کاملOrigin and hydrogeochemical evolution of Azarshahr travertine springs, NW Iran
1-Introduction Travertines are limestones that form where hot groundwaters rich in calcium and bicarbonate emerge at springs. Travertines cover a large area southwest of Azarshahr (East Azarbaijan province), in some parts of which active springs are currently settling travertine. One of the main questions about travertine springs is their origin, as well as the secondary processes that have ch...
متن کاملCosmological Mestel Disks and The Rossby Vortex Instability: The Origin of Supermassive Black Holes
A scenario is put forth for the formation of supermassive black holes at the centers of galaxies. It depends upon the formation of a Mestel disk with a flat rotation curve, M<r ∝ r and Σ ∝ 1/r. Such disks could form from the collapse of uniformly rotating, isolated, gaseous clouds, either proto-galactic, galaxy-mass damped Lyα clouds or the gas that survives galaxy mergers. We propose that in e...
متن کاملDynamical instability of a doubly quantized vortex in a Bose-Einstein condensate.
Doubly quantized vortices were topologically imprinted in /F=1> 23Na condensates, and their time evolution was observed using a tomographic imaging technique. The decay into two singly quantized vortices was characterized and attributed to dynamical instability. The time scale of the splitting process was found to be longer at higher atom density.
